TLDR: The Great British Baking Show Egg Holders are both the Singkasa Ceramic 6 Cups Egg Tray (Amazon) and the HIC Harold Import Co., Fine White Porcelain Crate (12 eggs) (Amazon - UK).

What The Bakers Use - Egg Holders

Look at it go! Hold those eggs Singkasa Egg Tray!
(Amazon)

The Great British Baking Show Egg Holders are both the Singkasa Ceramic 6 Cups Egg Tray (Amazon) and theHIC Harold Import Co., Fine White Porcelain Crate (12 eggs) (Amazon - UK).

I'm sure the Bake Off picked these because both egg holders look much better than a pressed cardboard crate of eggs sitting bakers' benches. Both are made of glazed porcelain, are dishwasher and freezer safe, and have a non-porous glaze which keeps substances from leeching into and out of the surface. Both are also great for holding not just eggs, but also serving eggs, and apparently people like them for deviled eggs... that have been sliced horizontally (what monster does this?). Again a nicer way to present them than a cardboard crate or sliding wildly around on a plate.

Singkasa says the Ceramic 6 Cups Egg Tray (Amazon) was fired at 1340 °C to cure the porcelain and glaze. Now they claim it can go in the microwave, freezer and an oven up to 500 °F... Some thing in my head says this should be able to go to a higher temperature. They also advertise it as easy to clean and features "good whiteness." I'll leave that there.

The HIC Harold Import Co., Fine White Porcelain Crate (12 eggs) (Amazon - UK) is also made of Porcelain and they claim it can go in the freezer, dishwasher and oven up to ... wait for it ... 350 °F. Which just seems wrong again. Generally you get ceramics to use for high temperature applications. But who am I to question marketing?

Why Singkasa and Harold Import Company?

Lets address Singkasa first. They are a ceramic manufacturer out of somewhere. Their parent company ... something is somewhere. But seriously, they only seem to sell their ceramic wares via Amazon and have no contact information or location information. They're listed under different parent companies and manufacturers which is weird. However, they seem to have decent quality products and people seem to like them. Unfortunately beyond that, they're a black box. Basically, someone at The Great British Baking Show ordered ceramic egg holders off of Amazon.

Harold Import Company is a different story.

Harold Import Company was formed in 1957 in New Jersey. For those of you not in the USA, New Jersey is a state. It's fine. They have some good bands and some... people. Anyways, I digress!

Harold Import Company both imports goods from a plethora of manufacturers around the world, and sells them to resellers, as well as their own brand. The only brand they import that I've heard of is Mrs. Anderson's baking, which makes a huge collection of baking specific gear.

They claim they want to import and provide access to both quality and unique cooking equipment. Which means all the baking equipment we've been unable to get in the USA, we should probably just bother HIC to get for us.

The egg holder is produced by HIC under their own label. And to be honest, after looking at far too many ceramic egg holders, this one looks the nicest to me. So good game HIC!

Where to get it & options

For those lacking imagination - here is the Singkasa egg holder empty.
Just in case.
(Amazon)

The enigma that is the Singkasa Ceramic 6 Cups Egg Tray (Amazon) is only available on Amazon. Being sold by a random company that will probably not exist in its current form in 6 months, but will have morphed into a new company selling the same thing on Amazon, it'll be a chore to find it again. Sadly the Singkasa egg crate is not available on Amazon UK. However, on Amazon UK the niche for ceramic 6 egg holders has been filled.

And I for one, am not sure why they did not go with a different egg holder. There are some nice pastel blue ones that would have looked great in the tent.

As for the HIC Harold Import Co., Fine White Porcelain Crate (12 eggs) (Amazon - UK). That's a different story.

If you can find a reseller of the HIC goods you're in luck! Who is a prominent reseller? I don't know.

However, their wares are listed on Amazon both in the US and the UK. So that makes it quite easy to get your hands on their goods if you're willing to wait for shipping.
